Sometimes you find yourself in circumstances that you couldn’t have imagined. While attending the CBA Unite 2016 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the end of June, The Calling’s Chrysandra found herself engaged in conversation with new friends about both her ministry and theirs. During lunch, President of Answers in Genesis Ken Ham had intrigued listeners as he spoke, among other things, about his newest endeavor called the Ark Encounter, a one-of-a-kind historically themed attraction in Williamstown, Kentucky.
After lunch, Chrysandra took the opportunity to stroll through the convention, and she found herself meeting new people from all walks of life one after another. Without a destination and not really noticing where she was headed, she suddenly found herself standing in front of none other than Ken Ham. He was just finishing up an interview with Dr. James Dobson’s radio talk show when another man she had never met seemingly leaned over out of nowhere and asked, “Would you like to meet and talk to Ken when he is done?” #divineappointment!
As Ken finished up the interview, Chrysandra received an introduction and a chance to walk and talk with him on the way to his next interview. The Ark Encounter features a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old. From the moment the towering Ark comes into view, to the friendly animals in the zoo, to the jaw-dropping exhibits inside the Ark, it’s possible to experience the pages of the Bible like never before.
Ken and Chrysandra had a wonderful conversation and shared ministry visions, and Chrysandra also got a VIP tour of the Ark Encounter that night. To her delight, her picture was taken by photographer Ron Gafni as she was entering the Ark as a photo to be submitted to the National Geographic magazine. The opportunity for a partnership was begun, and The Calling looks forward to finding ways to support Ken Ham and his Ark Encounter.
